Why did you choose a school with less than 1/2 a squad for this event??
Hardly a forum to showcase how tough your team is.....Am I the only one who sees it this way??

When choosing a date, you are not going to make everyone happy. I wouldn't think of it as a "forum to showcase how tough your team is". It is called Alumni night. We just wanted to invite all alumni back to be recognized. When looking at the schedule this was a team "Althoff"who has a coach who wrestled for Granite City. That seemed like a reasonable time to do it.

True enough....however, being up 30 to zip after weigh in has to feel pretty safe. You knew that team was troubled....it was never a threat when we were in school.
Give the coach at least enough time to field a full squad before you schedule a mismatch of this magnitude in front of old team mates....not very classy coach.

Again.... We cannot make everyone happy. This is an Annual Dual, not trying to embarass anyone. We hope you can bring your enthusiastic personality to the meet. Thank you for your reply and if you have any further advice please email me. george.kirgan@gcsd9.net

That's OK, I'll have to pass this time around....scheduling conflicts and too far a drive. Good luck in this brutal match-up.
BTW, I heard Althoff has one really tough kid...ranked pretty high in state, how do you match up with him??

it never fails that someone wants to Criticize a good thing or tear it down so they can feel better about themselves. plus not want to discuss it openly by placing their name on their post. it just doesnt make any sense to me. usually when these type things happen, the individuals these type people attack are doing something right. keep up the good work coach

I guess my point was lost on this crowd. I look at other successful programs and how they showcase their teams.....like Mizzou versus Oklahoma State.....making the venue St. Louis vice Columbia so more people can see the match up & outcome whether it be good or bad.....they don't do that when they wrestle Lindenwood or CMSU.
My point is, You look like a bully, it's low class and I just thought I would point that out. Good Sportsmanship has left the sport at the coaching level.....very sad.
I more than understand your statement about "choosing a date"....blah, blah, blah......Your "Alumni night" is an impromptu event, evidenced by your having to announce it on this lame site. My question remains.....why didn't you pick a tougher squad for this special night??
Hey, I got a great idea......For your next big event, see if you can get Grigsby to accept your challenge!!

Obvisouly you are full of class and you would have done something different, so let's just leave it at that. Agree to disagree, thanks for your anonymous responses. I will make one last attempt to answer you. We would like to pack the stands for as many meets as possible, Having the alumni meet vs. Edwardsville for example would not be needed to pack the stands people will come to that meet regardless. I understand where you are coming from, but from a coaching standpoint, this is not a Division I institution we do not have a marketing team, and a event coordinator, the coaching staff will have to do the organizing and leg work for the alumni presentation and we would not want any distractions duirng a very tough meet vs. Edwardsville. I hope you can try to see both sides here. I can tell everyone who reads this site, that the GC wrestling team is not trying to embarass Althoff. We just thought this would fit the best for us, and maybe in the future we can have a person like yourself to organzie this event and make it better for everyone. Lastly if anyone has any advice or input on anything that we do here, please e mail me I will try to answer your questions. Thanks and have a great day

Lame site? This is the GCWC forum used to pass information for club members or anyone interested in events pertaining to the club.
Any suggestions are welcome to help this site.
thanks

your not always going to have people post threads patting you on the back every time you put up a thread. thats what you opened yourself up for when you started this forum. i feel the guy has a legitamate question and expected an answer to his or her post. i know you guys are excited about your new club but dont be like the geese that eat the piece of fat with the string attached to it. try to remain an individual and keep the kids best interest at heart. the way it was explained to me this club is ran by the people it is comprised of. no 1 person making any of the decisions, keep it that way. more of the parents need to get involved, as this is their club and their vote decides all issues concerning the club. if you stick to that format you should,nt have any problems. although your dealing with some extremly large egos that need to be nipped at the bud

That is comical when you put it that way. Altoff has one certain incredible, PHENOM
Jake Gregerson <-----best of luck this year sure look forward to seeing him at the top of the podium at state this year.
Maybe because the meet is going to go by so fast. or maybe so everyone has a chance of watching the #1 wrestler ever to come from the south!
