as much as i like to see all the new wrestlers in the room. i cant understand why the tempo of the room has been turned down to accomodate the less experienced wrestlers. what about the advanced kids that will be representing the club going to ikwf state. its going to be here before you know it. i dont even see the kids sweating after practice . the mats need to be cleaned after the high school practice before the club kids are allowed to practice on them. this promotes a whole bunch of germs and skin problems i dont think you want to be responsible for. i remember wednesday nights were supposed to be elite practice only, that didnt last long. i have also noticed all the less experienced kids filling up purlers class on thursday nights. this wasnt supposed to happen either. when you have people paying for his services they are expecting to have equal caliber partners and room to practice in. the thursday night room has become the weakest room purler has to offer. the g.c.w.c. coaching staff needs to step up and put some restrictions on who is allowed to come to this practice.i dont see anyone getting into their pocket to pay purler for the less experienced kids crowding the paying people out of their practice space. with the abundant number of coaches available at g.c.w.c. you would think they would come up with a solution for this dilemma? the little kids need to be on their way by 7:00 p.m. and the real practice needs to start on tues. and weds. or your going to lose all your good kids to other clubs who are willing to take the extra steps to push them to the next level. i always thought you wrestle to get better not worse? i am totally confused as to which direction this club is heading. i am not bashing any 1 person. but c,mon guys you have basically taken over the coaching staff. so wheres all the technique and conditioning, let along wheres all the sweat that goes into it? the only sweat im seeing is from the furnace in the 85 degree room. i apologize if it sounds hard nosed but i got to tell it like i see it.

thank you for your concerns, we are having a meeting tonight and i would personally like to invite you to it at the mopad to voice your concerns. Since you so cowardly forgot to put your name (it must have been an honest mistake) at the meeting will you please mention that you were the one who made the anonymous comment on the forum. If you cant make the meeting tonight, please post your number or email on here and one of the coaches will gladly get ahold of you to take suggestions.

Well you have addressed a quite a few items so I guess I will begin with saying, I think you should step out from behind the computer and talk to someone about this problem face to face. But since you haven't...I will address some of these issues now.
*I don't feel like the tempo in the room has been turned down at all. I will say that we plan to step up the conditioning portion to the advanced practices since we are now focusing on the individuals. It is just now February and we have a month to get these wrestlers in shape for regionals. When 90% of the club consists of new or inexperienced wrestlers, we have to tend to those kids. I don't think we have taken anything away from the experienced wrestlers. Our advanced practices have been good. *Wednesday nights are still for advanced wrestlers. We have had a couple selected wrestlers from the beginner group come to the advanced practices to advance their wrestling. If you would like to kick these kids out, I think that is wrong. They are not hurting anyone and have picked up some good things because they are pushing themselves. The wednesday tempo is basically live for and hour and a half. *Purler...This is completely seperate than the GCWC. We have no control on who goes to his practices. I think it is great that he has taken on teaching new kids as well as the experience. He has fulfilled his side of the agreement. So yes, it was supposed to happen because he let it happen. So that is why none of the "abundance" of coaches have stepped in to fix a problem that doesn't involve the GCWC. Why would we pay for a service that he has agreed to do for free? *The high school janitors clean the mats when they are supposed to. Again, the GCWC really does not have control over this. *Just out of curiousity, which kid(s) have gotten worse? I can't think of any. Everyone of these kids have gained something.
I respect your concerns, but I feel like posting it on a public message board is lame. We have meetings once a month to discuss these very things. We will also be having a direct parent meeting next week. Everyone wants to complain, but never wants to step up.

I'm going to help break down some good points the anyonomous poster put.
i cant understand why the tempo of the room has been turned down to accomodate the less experienced wrestlers.
Personally I'm not from GC so I can't really say how a kids club room should be ran. Either it's about getting raw numbers which leads to a week room or it's about getting kids to the level they need to be at to compete up North. The difference between the way clubs in general train down south to the way clubs train up north is the big difference in why the south does poorly in general. I'm not saying you guys run a weak practice. However I do agree with the poster sometimes the pace is slowed down to accomadate the less experienced kids. I've been to rooms all over the midwest there is a difference between an "experienced practice" and a "beginners practice". I know a certain area coach who's name I will not mention actually starts out with good numbers but weeds out the weak through hard practices. I personally believe in this philisophy.
i dont even see the kids sweating after practice . True. some of the same kids not sweating go into the purler room. To not sweat as the individual said in a 85+ degree room is absurd in my opinion. Not at all the coaches fault, but definately needs to be brought to their attention. the mats need to be cleaned after the high school practice before the club kids are allowed to practice on them.
If you guys don't agree with anything the poster said, surely this is the best point he brought up. Skin problems are the biggest downfall to wrestling. This is definately an area that needs to be addressed. One area kid wrestler almost died from a staff, he had a pic line to his heart. He is still struggling with the after effects of the antibiotics, really horrible for anyone to have to deal with. I personally know another kid who contacted herpes from another wrestler was contacted through wrestler this season.
Showers after practice
high school kids/kids that have facial hair don't use razors use electric shavers.
wash with head and shoulders (whole body and hair)
regular skin checks - this should be mandatory
This is most imporant if a kid has some type of outbreak, get them checked and get them off the mat
this might be a good thread to start we can give tips and give some helpful links. Would probably be a good idea to put a page on on the GCWC site addressing skin problems and how to prevent them.
the thursday night room has become the weakest room purler has to offer. the g.c.w.c. coaching staff needs to step up and put some restrictions on who is allowed to come to this practice.i dont see anyone getting into their pocket to pay purler for the less experienced kids crowding the paying people out of their practice space.
This I agree with 100 percent. This room is by far the weakest room purler has to offer. Yes there should be restrictions. If a kid isn't willing to put in 100 percent, they have no business at all being in this room. I do pay for this room so I really do have a concern. I've seen some kids laying down during the practice, sitting out taking a break. Leaving practice every 10 minutes to get a drink. This slows down the whole pace and lowers moral.
i am totally confused as to which direction this club is heading.
I don't want to see this turn into a click, so easily clubs turn into that. I'm afraid I do agree with the poster. It is a kids club, get some coaches Gary Graville, Gushleff, Pixley or someone willing to step up. I know Gary was really trying to get involved with the Dual Team wouldn't of hurt anything to make him feel part of it. He was totally neglected from what I seen. Make them feel part of it.
i apologize if it sounds hard nosed but i got to tell it like i see it. Sounds like an opinion, that's what you want someone to tell it like it is. Rather than say everythings great. Truth is there is always room for improvements.
Please don't take this as an attack I'm only posting based on past experiences.

i will say i do agree with a couple of the things brought up in the previous post. i personally have asked the janitor to clean the mats after the high school practice. i guess i dont have much say so with what the janitor does or doesnt do. needless to say they never get cleaned. and i also realize we are basically only coming to 1 practice a week, tuesday night. but they should still be disinfected on a regular basis. i too have noticed a lack of toughness in the practice session. i dont know if this is due to the younger kids that are present or a different approach that you are trying to achieve. i will say that back when the club first started the practice room was starting to get a tough edge to it. then it stopped. thats why i choose to drive 80 miles round trip, 2 nights a week , to get my kid the practice room he needs to get better. as for the purler practice on thursday night i really dont think nick has anything to do with the little kids from granite city that are coming to the purler practice on thursday night. i had talked to alan in the beginning and there was supposed to be some criteria used in who would be allowed to come to this practice. so you might want to get with alan to clarify this. i personally dont feel that first year wrestlers need to be there. if they cant get through the regular practice why would they be allowed to come to the elite practice. a lot of them are off the mat more than on it ,at their leisure. and this does break down the tempo of the room. this is only my personal opinion in which i do agree with some of the previous postings.

OK, I THINK WE SHOULD STOP AFTER THE FIRST REMARK. ANYONE THAT HAS THAT MUCH TO SAY NEEDS TO TALK TO A PERSON FROM THE TEAM THAT CAN REALLY HELP THEM. COME TO OUR MEETINGS EVERYONE GETS A CHANCE TO TALK. ALSO, LETS NOT REPLY TO THIS OUR TEAM GUYS READ THIS AND THEY ARE TAUGHT TO RESPECT AND BECOME A FAMILY WITH THIS TEAM. ALL OF THESE THINGS ARE GREAT BUT TAKE IT UP AT A MEETING CALL A MEETING ANYONE THAT KNOWS ME KNOWS I SAY HOW I FEAL BUT DON'T HANG DIRTY CLOTHES OUT FOR EVERY TEAM TO READ. THE RING WORM POST IT BIG ON OUR FRONT PAGE IT WILL HELP EVERY WRESTLER THERE IS. BUT GUYS PLEASE PLEASE KEEP OUR ISSUES TO OUR TEAM AT MEETINGS. EVERY TEAM I AM SURE HAS PROBLEMS BUT LETS DISCUSS THEM WHERE THEY CAN BE FIXED. I THINK THE WORLD OF ALL OF YOUS EVEN THE PERSON THAT WON'T GIVE THEIR NAME FOR BEING SO CONCERN ABOUT THIS TEAM JUST PLEASE CALL ONE OF US AND WE CAN HAVE A MEETING WHERE SOMETHING CAN BE FIXED INSTEAD OF SHOW AND TELL. THIS IS ALL ABOUT OUR LITTLE GUYS LETS NOT THINK OF OURSELVES OR OUR FEELINGS AT A TIME LIKE THIS.

Hello Everyone! To start I think if you are going to type something on this you need to man or woman enough to give your name and stand behind what you say. Second, how does everyone know that the mats aren't getting clean? Are you guys there all the time watching? (boring life). Third, the kids coming out of practice sweating? My son sweats at practice and so does who ever he is wrestling with. Do you think that maybe those kids that are not sweating, maybe are not working as hard as the should? Why are you always fast to blame a coach? Fourth, this club is going some where. If all the cry babies would get in and help instead of pointing fingers at everyone els we could do it together. One more thing why is GCWC getting bashed by people that their kids don't come all the time unless it is for a tourney or it is to benefit them self? I think if the old coaches and new coaches would work together this club will go far. The coaches we have now must be doing something right GCWC brought home 6th place for duals. I think thats pretty good for the first year!!!!
Thanks Cathy

What a great practice last night!!!!!!! Thanks to George and Chad. Maybe you can think about that anyone attending the advanced practices starting next year have to be okayed by the coaches first This would include Purler's classes. Then during the year you might move some wrestlers to the advance practice at your discrection. Also THANKS to all the other coaches and everyone else giving their time and effort to the club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
